livestrong fancy office

livestrong lobby

i saw livestrong hq office photos on facebook and i was amazed how fancy it looks. i am not familiar with interior design and office space prices in texas but it seems to me that a smarter yet cheaper way to make it interesting could have cost significantly less.

does a non-profit organization really need a big lobby which puts most world’s corporations to shame?

a lot of people all over the world whom i know bought livestrong bands which directly supported lance armstrong’s non-profit organization. these are people in africa, who drive by townships every day, and people in serbia, which i think for sure needs some help as well. i also bought one. i did not buy a band to support a local cancer organization but i got livestrong yellow one. in a nike store. there is only place for one band on my hand, its cheesy to have more of them, so i got the lance armstrong one.

lance armstrong and livestrong are huge brands world wide. livestrong mission is brave and they get results, lance armstrong seems honest and dedicated to the cause.

so why would i not trust someone like lance armstrong?

i think lance means well, i think his staff means well, i think they very hard to do a very hard job. i can not imagine how it is to fight every day, day after day, against illness like cancer. i visited an oncology department for about 2 mins and i wanted to never come back there again, and these people have made it their job (and sometimes life) to be there every day.

also i think they will buy more expensive software because that is the standard. they will hire a 500 usd per day local it guy instead of an 100 usd per day indian it guy. they will get a bigger lobby because all the offices around have a big lobby. they will build a website not with open source and by themselves…

maybe they need that luxury to compensate for the stress of their work. if it is so than be it. let us get them an even bigger lobby. if it helps their focus why not. the biggest asset of organizations like livestrong is its people and they should be 100% motivated.

but if there is a way around it, then it should be used.
